AED – A Happy Ending or Another Tragedy?

According to Deseretnews.com, 17 year-old Connor Moss is alive today thanks to two women who knew what to do in an emergency and the availability of a defibrillator.

AED and Risk Management Pays Off at the University of Michigan

If your school or business is debating whether or not to purchase an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), read the following story that appeared on University of Michigan director of athletics Dave Brandon’s blog, Go Blue.

On Wednesday, April 27, at our Wilpon Softball Complex, quick thinking, training and the resolve to win paid off big time. Not on the field but in the team lounge as the Wolverine softball coaches literally saved the life of a recruit’s father.

Cardiac Care in Clubs

This article by Doyice Cotten originally appeared in Fitness Management, but is as timely today as ever. Health, fitness, and recreation providers should have a plan in place for dealing with heart attacks and other serious incidents. Failure to do so can leave the provider liable.

Jerry Atcovitz suffered a heart attack while playing tennis at Gulph Mills Tennis Club in Pennsylvania.  He later filed suit against the club claiming that damage to his heart could have been mitigated if the club had utilized an automated external defibrillator (AED).
